There is currently a tremendous amount of interest in developing relations and increasing understanding of the way people in different countries are practicing rehabilitation and working to ensure quality of life for people with disabilities. There is no better way to learn this than to actually visit, meet, and develop relationships with consumers and professionals in other countries. The experience will provide you with skills, knowledge, and professional relationships that simply can not be attained with the same richness and quality in any other forum.
Students and educators will have the opportunity to visit an Ireland that is currently in the transition from centralized to diversified services to people with disabilities. This opportunity, in this environment, at this time will allow the participants to experience and engage in a discussion that is currently and increasingly occurring in America as well. At the same time, the Rehabilitation Counseling profession is really in its infancy in Ireland. New services and ways of providing services are being developed and explored and participants in this course will be able to learn and think about their own practices in an exciting and energized environment of trial and discovery.
Further, Ireland offers an ideal environment for a number of reasons, including: existing familiarity with US legislation and standards, a thriving independent living movement, advanced and enforced equality legislation, a vigorous voluntary sector, extensive utilization of innovative European project initiatives, strong national policy debate and a common language and accessible cultural environment.
Students, Educators, and Professionals in Rehabilitation Counseling or Related fields, or anyone with an interest in Disability Policies and Practice. We are hoping to bring a diverse group with multiple perspectives and backgrounds.

CCSA is headquartered at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Kentucky. Dr. Michael Klembara, Executive Director, along with the assistance of his staff and guided by the policies determined by the board of trustees, annually develops, plans, and coordinates study abroad programs in Australia, Barbados, England, Ireland, Belize, Jamaica, Singapore, South Africa, and Scotland. Special programs, such as choir tours and alumni trips, are planned in these and other English-speaking regions as requested. Students can receive higher education credit (undergraduate, graduate, etc.) for successfully completing the CCSA program in which they are enrolled. The classes are taught by faculty from consortium-member schools. In addition, eight-week internships are available in London, England, Dublin, Ireland and Sydney, Australia.
All undergraduate and graduate students in good academic standing are eligible to participate in any CCSA program.
